Reports surfaced on Friday 25th June that Warta Nabadda District Commissioner Seynab Habsey was assaulted in front of the mayor’s office in Mogadishu. The District Commissioner was trying to enter the building to attend an event that was being held to commemorate the deadly attack that took place at the mayor’s office a year ago.

District Commissioner Seynab Habsey was amongst the government officials that were wounded in last year’s attack when a female suicide bomber blew herself up inside the office of late Mayor Abdirahman Omar Osman “Yarisow” during a closed-door meeting.

Initial reports stated that the District Commissioner’s ribs were fractured as a result of the assault, but not much information has been released regarding the incident. She is currently being treated at a hospital in Mogadishu.

At the time of writing, no official word has been released by government officials concerning the incident and the wellbeing of District Commissioner Seynab Habsey.
