On the 16^th of February, a young girl named Shukri Yusuf Hussein was brutally raped and murdered in a village called Tuur in Lughaya, in the Awdal region of Somalia.

Regional police commander Lieutenant Colonel Abdirahman Nur Colhaye spoke to VOA Somali, where he stated that Shukri was tending to her family’s livestock in a deserted area in the village when she was attacked.

Lieutenant Colonel Abdirahman Nur Colhaye stated that the main suspect of this heinous crime is a 22-year-old man who is from the region. The suspect is currently under police custody.
