The body of a 12-year-old girl who had been missing for 15 days has been found today. Aisha Mohamed went missing on the 22nd of June from her home in the small town of Godinlabe in the Galgaduud region of Somalia.
Aisha’s body was discovered in a bush by a group of men who were doing work in the area. Aisha’s family members told local media that her body was found with her hands and feet bound, and it is also reported that the girl had wounds on her neck.
Although Aisha’s family had not stated that the little girl was a victim of sexual violence, Mohamed Moalimuu who is the Secretary-General of the Federation of Somali Journalists (FESOJ) claimed on Twitter that her body showed “signs of rape”.
