Poetry: Come In

*This poem was anonymously submitted by one of our readers.

I.

I’ve been expecting you.

Even though I delayed your arrival countless times,

I am finally ready to meet you.

II.

What is it like where you’re from?

How often do you have tea with your mother?

Do you get lonely sometimes?

III.

I don’t do this very often.

People like you scare me.

I want to love you.

IV.

What do you dream about at night?

How long have you been longing for me?

Do I make you happy?

V.

You scare me.

Don’t look at me like that.

I’m not used to being loved.
